Free Embroidery, Needlepoint & Quilting Demonstrations Offered
The Pajarito Embroidery Guild, the Sangre de Cristo Needlepointers Group and Northern New Mexico Quilt Guild are offering four hours of free demos and hands on learning on Saturday, February 10 at SFQ. From 10-12 the Embroidery Guild and Needlepointers will teach, then from 1-3 the Quilt Guild will offer quilting tips and ideas. Themes include half square triangles, prairie points, hand appliqué and English paper piecing. Sign up across from the front counter for the times you plan on coming. You can move from demo to demo.

Three New Block of the Months
Cindy Barfield offers Template Free Motion BOM which uses a special template and feet for doing accurate free motion quilting. Tools and templates for the class must be ordered at least 10 days before the class which begins Jan 26. A prerequisite for this class is a Free Motion Quilting Class, which teaches the basics. Lea Armstrong offers Sylvia Pippin Sashiko and Hand Appliqué using beautiful flower designs from Sylvia. A free introductory class will be offered in early February. Sign up at the front counter. Prerequisites: Cindy’s Hand Appliqué and Lea’s Sashiko Class. Just Takes Two, a traditional block pattern, that uses one color and one neutral is Mary’s new offering. Santa Fe Triptych with Kathy Tolbert, continues and welcomes new comers. Square in a Square Sampler with Louise Heine continues, while Mary’s Epicenter and Cindy’s Talking Points are finishing up.

New Quilt Classes & Old Favorites
Vel Saddington is back to teach Drunkard’s Path, using templates that she designed and we sell in the store. Uptown Outlook with Kathy Tolbert, uses dots and solids from Hoffman’s “All a Twitter” line to create a delightful quilt. Minimalist Improvisation Art Quilt, with D.M. Sanford, a modern art quilt, is an unusual design that challenges you to start your art quilt career. Mochi, a cute scrap or baby quilt, is offered by Linda McCormick, a new teacher. Nicole Dunn offers Diamonds & Stars Scrap Quilt. Choose the right fabric to make the stars or diamonds stand out. Cobblestone Wall Hanging with Julee Coffman is a great way to learn to combine colors. Lazy Daisy Bed Runner is Louise Heine’s new offering. She also has Navajo No Scraps, a Southwest table runner. Mary offers Collage which uses cut out flowers and leaves to create an animal wall hanging. Le Adams is back with Bladez, a star pattern made with a unique ruler. Deb Martinez, recuperating from hand surgery, offers Garden Trellis, a Stack N Whack quilt, Victorian Stars, a foundation pieced quilt and Beading on Fabric.

Tote, Purse, Wine Carrier Classes
Hetty Hold All Bag, a large tote, and I’ll Drink to That Wine Carrier, are new classes with Cindy, our container and bag enthusiast! Sew Together Bag, a bag that can be used for sewing supplies and EZ Bag Essentials, which is a great first bag, are offered by Regina Boyer. Cell Phone/Travel Purse, small and handy, is offered by Louise.

Tuffet Classes Offered Too!
Candace Gillis is offering Tuffet I & II, to teach you how to make round or square tuffets. We have kits and fabrics for you to choose from.
Clothing Classes with Carolyn
Carolyn Randle continues to make beautiful vests and jackets that are on display at SFQ. This quarter she is teaching: Tunic Top, a lightweight shirt/tunic for new sewers; Lined Lapel Jacket, a lightweight jacket, just in time for spring; and Myeziest Vest, a strikingly different vest.

Fabric Coming Soon or Just Arrived
We have “Gustav Klimt,” Robert Kaufman’s new line coming in January and February. Klimt is famous for his painting “The Kiss,” which will be depicted in the line, and is stunning. Just arrived are Northcott’s “Out of This World” collection of colorful planets and celestial starbursts. “The Dress,” a whimsical creation featuring a girl with a quilted dress, by Laura Heine, just arrived, along with three coordinates. Digital “Call of the Wild” panels featuring a forest landscape with an eagle and separately a large bear, compliment our elk panel, all created by Hoffman Fabrics. We are expecting monthly deliveries of bright unusual batiks from Island Batiks as well as beautiful batik designs from Hoffman, Kaufman and Timeless Treasures.

New Patterns & Sashiko Kits
We have lots of new Sylvia Pippin Sashiko and appliqué patterns. “Waves & Birds,” a cyan print, is a prescreened 11”X14” design kit on fabric, that allows you to stitch over the printed lines without having to transfer the design. “American Wildflowers” are separate patterns featuring “Bleeding Heart,” “Iris,” “Wild Rose,” and others. Other new patterns include “Fire & Ice” by Kimberly Einno, “Fancy Forest,” with various animals and owls, and “The Peacock” by Violet Craft. “Cake Mix” has 44 ‘recipe card’ patterns for 10” squares.

More Fun Classes
Marianne Udell is back to teach you the basics of Hand Embroidery. She is very skilled in this technique. Cindy offers Two Color Binding Tool, a new way to create a binding with different colors on the front and back. She also has Making a T Shirt Quilt and Making Waves, a placemat class.

Quilts of Southwest China Show
This exhibition is at the Museum of International Folk Arts in Santa Fe and ends January 21. It is worth seeing!
