Cactus Collage Class Offered

Back by popular demand is Cactus Collage, with Arizona quilter Nora Briggs. This stunning quilt is displayed on our ramp. We have created kits that feature the multiple gray fabrics for background and a separate kit that features an array of colors for the cacti. This is a two-part class that is offered in May.

Collage, using other patterns from Laura Heine’s pattern line, is offered by Mary McCusker this quarter.

Using PowerPoint for Quilts

Kathy Tolbert offers Intro to Microsoft PowerPoint as a Design Tool, which requires you to bring your laptop and PowerPoint 2010 or later software.  Kathy, a computer whiz, will teach you how to manipulate fabric images, design with shapes and create precise templates for paper piecing and other templates.

Template Free Motion Class

Cindy Barfield teaches you how to use special templates and feet for doing accurate free motion quilting on your sewing machine.   A free, but required intro class, is offered April 7, but you must sign up for it.  A new ongoing class is offered later for those interested in learning the process.  This has been a very popular on-going class.

Milly Young offers Ka-Pow Quilt, which she created using bright prints to create a delightful effect. Cobblestone Crow Wall Hanging, with Julee Coffman, is one of our eye-catching store samples.  Bladez, a popular class with Le Adams, uses a specialty ruler to create a unique star pattern.  Vel Saddington is back with Drunkard’s Path, which uses templates she originally created.  Checkout her store samples.  Zia Quilt, an original Southwest pattern by Kathy Tolbert, is offered as is her Urban Outlook, which uses dots and solids from Hoffman Fabrics “All a Twitter” digital line. Kathy has 5-4-3-2-1 Quilt! too. Jean Callaghan has One Fabric Kaleidoscope, which uses only one fabric to create a kaleidoscope effect. D.M. Sanford’s Minimalist Improvisation Art Quilt class was rescheduled from Winter to Spring.  His wall hanging uses minimalist (low volume) fabrics for an eye-catching result. Prolific quilter, Deb Martinez, offers Asian Antics, which uses Kaffe rather than Asian fabrics and Two or Three Fabric Bargello, another stunning quilt.  Try it with ombre fabric! Square in a Square Sampler is offered by Louise using the Square in a Square Ruler and your choice of blocks. She has Stripping in Paradise also, which uses strip sets.
